Christmas 2010

December 25, 2010

It was hard not having Todd with us for the first time. We were all dreading it, but excited for the kids too. It was a heap of emotions. Kelly and Garrett spent Christmas eve with our family. It was great to have them with us. Our Christmas eve is filled with traditions...a yummy buffet and a reenactment of the nativity. It has been years since we have done the nativity because we were too old to do it, and our kids have been too young. We had been waiting to do the reenactment till this year. We did it and it was super fun! I think Todd was there, laughing with us as we costumed up. We had a good time!
Some Christmas eve highlights...

Christmas morning was so fun! The kids loved their gifts and Joe and I had some surprises up our sleeves for each other.
He had secretly purchased some beautiful dishes I wanted from Pier One Imports! I have been drooling over them for about a year and a half now. Woo hoo Joe! He was so sneaky. He had talked me out of them weeks earlier and they were completely out of my mind until he brought in two HUGE boxes. I was so surprised!

Then it was time for my gift... I had found out that I was pregnant about 3 days earlier, but kept it a secret from everyone. It was soooooo hard! I baggied the pregnancy test and put it in a big box, then I set up a big scavenger hunt. He and the kids had so much fun finding the clues. Finally he found the gift and opened it. His reaction was awesome! He was in as much shock as I had been. After all, when you have been trying for 3 years to no avail, you can't help but cry and laugh and everything in between! We had fun telling the kids what was going on. We are all so excited!

Christmas dinner was at my parents house and we decided we wanted to tell everyone, so at dinner during toasts, Joe said, "Here's to another August birthday". Everyone was puzzled and didn't want to assume, but Ryan and Tina got it and blurted it out. Everyone is so thrilled!
