The Dreaded Call...

January 14, 2010

Every morning I worry about Joe driving on the busy highway to Casa Grande. Every time the phone rings I get a lump in my throat. Well today it was what I dread. I knew when he said, "Hi Honey" that he had been in an accident. He was really shaken up and I could hear it in his voice.
I felt sick. He told me someone turned in front of him and he couldn't help but run right into them. He said it was all in terrible slow motion. He hit the rear of the truck and then slid under it taking out the axel and wheel. Air bags deployed. Good to know they work! The guy had tools in the bed of his truck and something flew out at Joe's face. You can see the broken windshield where it hit. Glad it didn't go through.
Here is his view after the accident...

The car... lovely sunrise though...

The other guy's truck... this beast was solid. Don't make them like they used to.

Bye bye car, we know you will be totaled out...

Joe walked away with some neck and back pain and some air bag abrasions. He went straight to work. Poor guy.
All day I have felt so blessed. I know that it is strange to say that, but I am just glad he is alive. Just another reminder of how fragile life is. I have had a lot of those reminders lately with Todd's Leukemia, Tina's health problems while being pregnant and a friend losing his wife to cancer.
It has been a hard few months and I just can't help but feel overwhelmed. My knees are worn but I know HE hears me!
