"Working 9 to 5"

June 26, 2009

Joe is working at a couple of different offices for the summer. The office he works at on Friday's hired me to be his assistant. Fun huh?! We are so excited!!!!! We work well together, so this will be so fun. It is great to be back in the saddle again.
I love assisting, especially when the Dr. is soooo HOT! Joe is an AWESOME doctor. I was very impressed.
The office is about 15 minutes from my parents house in Surprise, so they are watching the kids on Fridays for us. Are we lucky or what?? The kids practically shewed us out of the house on our first day. They love Grandpa and Grandma!

Joe's other office is a different story! Here is a journal entry by Joe about his first day at the "ghetto" office...

As far as the job goes, it mostly sucks.  It is craaaazy!  I went in for my interview this morning and the guy who hired me is a denturist from Trinidad, black, dreds, the carribean accent, everything.  He's not a Dr. so he needs a doc in the office so he can legally work.  He said I had an English accent and I said, "No, I don't.  Oh, I must have picked it up in Las Vegas."  He laughed and said "ha ha, you're funny, you got the job."  The interview was seriously about 20 seconds long.  Then they had a patient waiting in the lobby, they brought him back and sat him in the chair the same second that I stood up to leave.  They said "go to work."  Ummmmm, weird.  I wasn't planning on working this very second but whatever.  What would that patient have done if I said I didn't want the job and left?  It's totally ghetto, nasty, downtown Phoenix, and the patients are all low income and on drugs and the pay sucks, but enough to pay the rent, so I'm OK to tough it out for a couple of months...until something better comes along....please please please.  I feel like I have to exhale the whole time and only inhale in small puffs when absolutely necessary for fear of catching some airborn disease.  I had the whole surgical garb on even while I was doing new patient exams and treatment planning.

That is fun that you guys get to work together! I haven't checked your blog for a couple of weeks and WOW what a lot of info I had to catch up on.

Looks like you have been having a great time!

Yay- you're back at it huh? That will be so much fun. A day alone, no kids, and some adult time...even if there is a patient between ya! I'm so glad you have great daycare :)
